Meet our team: Cat

We're a very small team here at Mr Jones Watches, which means that no matter what the job description, everyone plays a big part in the success of the company.

Last October, when Dove sadly left us to go full time in her jewellery business, Cat joined our workshop team as an assembly technician!

So far we've introduced you to Elena, Paul and Natalie - so now we've sat down with Cat (digitally of course) to help you to get to know her a little better.

Tell us a little about you?

I’m Cat, I work as a Watch Assembly Technician at Mr Jones Watches.

Born and raised in North London, I trained as a contemporary jewellery designer-maker in London’s Hatton Garden.

Previous to that, I lived and worked in Melbourne, Australia for 3 years where I first picked up my tools and discovered my love for making!

What do you like doing outside of work?

I tend to spend a lot of my free time in my jewellery studio which is conveniently located just a few doors down from the MJW workshop, where I work on making jewellery for upcoming shows and exhibitions for my brand Catherine Rua Jewellery.

I’m also in the midst of a year long evening course, learning Watchmaking and the serving and repair of watches which I’ve discovered as an interest since starting at Mr Jones Watches.

I thought jewellery was intricate, but it turns out watchmaking is on another level!

Other than that you will tend to find me getting inspired by visiting exhibitions and craft galleries but after all of that you will definitely find me with a pint in a pub garden!

Which is your favourite Mr Jones Watch and why?

I think my favourite design would have to be Nuage.

I wear it every day. I love telling the time by seeing how high the sun or moon is in the sky.

A lot of craft and skill goes into this watch with the 22 carat gold gilding and silver leaf, and it happens to be one of my favourite to assemble too.
