A chaotic collision of colour, characters and curious creatures, Time Warp brings the unmistakable world of artist and illustrator Sam Taylor to life.
At first glance, the dial is a joyful jumble of familiar faces from Sam’s ever-growing cast of characters. But as the hands move, so does the artwork.
At the centre of the design, a rotating skull reveals a goofy face when turned upside down, inspired by the playful reversible optical illusions of the Victorian era.
The creatures and shapes shift between order and abstraction. Cute and nasty, good and evil, life and death intertwine, coming together once per hour before dissolving into a colourful swirl of lines.
A reminder that life can feel utterly perplexing one moment, and perfectly clear the next.
Time Warp is a reflection of the way we experience time itself. The anvil represents work, the beer represents play, while the skull is a reminder of the inevitable.
It’s all about finding the balance.
Each character has its own personality and meaning, but Sam leaves plenty of room for you to find your own.
His worm is calm, collected and completely unbothered; to you? Perhaps he's an irritating little pest. Both can be true.
Because there is no single way to make sense of this strange, colourful world. Sometimes things are messy. Sometimes they are beautiful. Sometimes they're both at once.
And sometimes, when you least expect it, everything falls perfectly into place.
